PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT

A gentleman once came up to me after watching the show and said, "When did you suddenly realize you could hit all these marvellous golf shots?" After a small pause I replied, "It was at 2:30 in the afternoon on Thursday 23rd of June 1985!"

To this day I have never fully understood why I was only drawn the once to play with Jack Nicklaus.

ANOTHER EXPENSIVE TRICK SHOT!!!

During the 4th round of the European Dunlop Masters tournament at the beautiful Wobern Golf and Country Club, my partner Sam Torrance hooked his tee shot out of bounds on the 5th hole. It was so far left and over so many trees we didn't bother to go find the ball. About 3 months later the European PGA received a letter from a gentlman claiming to have been out walking his dog on the morning in question. He was hit on the head by a flying golf ball resulting in a nasty wound that required several visits to hospital and many days off work. He was eventually awarded damages of aprox 10,000 pounds from the European Tour! Honestly your Honour! It was Sam! Not me! Sam! Not me!

THE BEST TIP

The best tip (not trick) I ever got during my tournament career was from my childhood hero Mr. Gary Player. "Stay in the present and regardless of your score, whether it be good or bad, try your best on every shot." Easier said than done! But extremely rewarding if you can do it and carry the attitude forward to every aspect of your life.
